Alarm.com Commercial Dealer + Becklar Monitoring

Commercial alarm systems with video-event analytics and 24/7 dispatch.

Alarm.com video-event analytics flags a person before a human even looks at the screen. Becklar, a UL-listed central station, handles dispatch 24/7. One JHC project manager owns the install from site walk to panel activation. You own every piece of hardware on the wall.

What makes Alarm.com different: the panel pings you on a person, not a pixel change.

Most camera and alarm systems push so many false alerts that the staff turn notifications off inside a week. Then a real event happens and nobody sees it for hours. Alarm.com Video Analytics solves that with on-device AI that classifies what triggered the motion before anyone gets pinged.

Person, vehicle, or animal. Drawn on a zone you defined.

The camera runs the classifier locally. A car pulling into the parking lot does not page anyone. A person crossing the loading dock at 2:14 AM does. You draw the zones at install. The system learns your traffic pattern and quiets itself further over the first 30 days.

Every flagged event saves a clip, a timestamp, and a thumbnail to the Alarm.com cloud. Staff get one notification with the clip already attached, not a list of 400 motion-detected pings to sort through.

The Difference

Old way: An alarm trips at 11:47 PM. Somebody scrolls through 6 hours of recorded video at 8x speed the next morning, trying to find the moment.

Alarm.com way: The classifier flags a person in a restricted zone. A 14-second clip pings the manager's phone with the event already isolated. Becklar gets the same signal and starts the call tree.

What customers usually ask us about: Ring vs Alarm.com

These are the two names that come up in most quote calls. Here is what each one actually is and where we steer commercial buyers.

Ring

Consumer-grade. Great for a front door.

Ring is a doorbell camera, a few floodlight cams, and a basic alarm panel built for homes. We are a Ring dealer, so if that is what you want for a small office or retail front, we will quote it and install it.

The catch on commercial sites: the cameras run a generic motion model, the panel does not have commercial-grade cellular failover, and Ring monitoring is a thin layer compared to a UL-listed central station.

We will quote it. Then suggest you look at Alarm.com.
Alarm.com + Becklar

Commercial-grade. You own the hardware.

This is what we install on most commercial sites. Alarm.com is the panel and the cloud video platform. Becklar is the 24/7 UL-listed monitoring center. JHC pulls the cable, mounts the sensors, and stays on the account.

The panel, the sensors, the cameras, and the cabling are purchased under your name on the install quote. Monitoring is a separate monthly line you can renegotiate or cancel without losing the hardware.

You own the hardware. You own the account.

What we install on a commercial alarm site

Standard scope across an office, retail location, multifamily property, or healthcare office. We size each line item to the property.

Alarm.com

Commercial panel + cellular failover

A commercial-grade panel running cellular signal on top of the wired internet, so a cut cable does not silence the alarm.

  • Crash and Smash protection
  • Dual-path cellular signal
  • Encrypted communication to Alarm.com cloud
Alarm.com
Intrusion

Door, window, and motion sensors

The perimeter and interior coverage that triggers the alarm when someone is somewhere they should not be.

  • Recessed door contacts
  • Pet-immune PIR motion sensors
  • Wireless or hardwired, by site
Panic + Duress

Fixed and wearable panic buttons

A button under the counter or worn on a lanyard. Pressing it sends a silent duress signal straight to Becklar.

  • Hold-up and ambush codes
  • Wearable pendants for lone workers
  • Silent alarm to monitoring center

Glass-Break + Environmental

Glass-break, smoke, temp, water

The sensors that catch the threats motion sensors miss: broken glass, smoke, a freezer warming up, a pipe burst overnight.

  • Verified glass-break logic
  • Temperature and water-leak sensors
  • Commercial smoke detection
Video Analytics

AI-flagged event cameras

The video-events layer. Cameras that classify the trigger and push the clip with the alert, not a wall of motion noise.

  • Person, vehicle, animal classification
  • Custom zones and tripwires
  • Clips saved to Alarm.com cloud

How the monitored response actually works

Most buyers picture the alarm goes off, then police arrive. There are five real steps between those two events, and Becklar runs four of them. Here is the chain from sensor trip to dispatch.

Sensor trips

A door contact opens after hours, a glass-break sensor fires, or a video-events camera flags a person in a restricted zone. The panel sends the signal to the Alarm.com cloud and, in parallel, to Becklar.

Becklar receives the signal

Becklar is a UL-listed central station that operates 24 hours a day, every day, including holidays. The signal hits an operator within seconds. They see the property name, the sensor that tripped, and the video clip if there is one.

Verify and call the escalation list

A Becklar operator calls the primary contact you put on the account. If nobody picks up, they call the next person on the list. If you have video verification enabled, they review the clip before dispatching, which lowers false-alarm fees.

Dispatch police, fire, or medical

When the call tree is exhausted or the signal type is critical (fire, panic, duress), Becklar dispatches the appropriate responder to the property address on file. Every step is logged with a timestamp, available in your Alarm.com app.

Two top-tier vendors. One accountable contractor. One number to call.

Alarm.com makes the panel and the video analytics. Becklar staffs the monitoring center. JHC is the company that walks your property, specs the system, pulls the cable, mounts the sensors, programs the panel, sits with your team on day one, and answers the phone for the next five years.

If a sensor stops reporting or a code stops working, you call JHC. You do not get bounced between three 1-800 numbers.

Why JHC for commercial Alarm.com installs

Real commercial scope, not a residential panel in a business

Commercial-rated panels, commercial-rated sensors, commercial-rated cable runs. The hardware on the wall holds up to a high-traffic door cycling 800 times a day.

One contractor for cabling, alarms, cameras, and access

We are already pulling cable for the cameras and the access readers. Putting the alarm on the same install means one schedule and one bill, with the right specialist crew on each trade.

You own the hardware. We name the cost.

Panel, sensors, keypads, cabling are purchased under your name on the install quote. Monitoring is a separate monthly line. We do not bury hardware cost inside a contract.

We sit with your team on day one

Arming, disarming, the mobile app, adding a user code, what to do when an alarm trips. We do not hand you a box and a phone number and leave.

FAQ

Why do you recommend Alarm.com over Ring on a commercial site?

Ring is built for homes. The cameras run a generic motion model, the panel does not ship with the commercial-grade cellular failover or Crash and Smash protection that Alarm.com panels have, and the monitoring tier is thin compared to a UL-listed central station like Becklar. We sell Ring and we will install it on a small office or retail front if that is what you want. On a real commercial site, we will tell you Alarm.com is the better fit and explain why.

Who is Becklar and why does it matter who the monitoring company is?

Becklar is one of the largest UL-listed monitoring centers in the country. They run 24/7, 365 days a year, with redundant call centers. When your alarm trips, the operator who picks up is a trained dispatcher with your property on the screen in front of them. The monitoring company is the part of the chain that determines whether the police actually get called at 2 AM, so it matters.

What happens if internet goes down?

The alarm keeps reporting. Every commercial install we do uses a cellular signal path on top of the wired internet. If the network drops, the cellular radio in the panel sends the signal to Alarm.com and Becklar without interruption.

Can the system integrate with cameras and access control we already have?

Often yes. Alarm.com supports Open Video Integration for a range of ONVIF-compatible cameras from other brands. On the access side, the platform integrates with several commercial reader systems. We audit what is already in place during the property walk before quoting.

How does Alarm.com cut false-alarm fees?

Two ways. First, hardware: pet-immune motion sensors, verified glass-break logic, and Crash and Smash-protected panels cut the easy false trips. Second, video verification: a Becklar operator can review the flagged clip before dispatching, which most municipalities now treat as a verified alarm and waive the false-alarm fine.

Walk us through the property. We will quote the alarm.

Tell us the property type, the door and window count, and whether you have any existing alarm or monitoring contract in place. We will walk the site, spec the Alarm.com panel and sensors, and quote Becklar monitoring in plain dollars per month.
