What We Do

Nine service lines for Birmingham businesses

Structured cabling, cameras, access control, and POTS replacement come first. JHC field techs and long-term trade partners handle all nine, to one standard.

Structured Cabling

Cat6 and fiber for new offices, tenant moves, and clinics. We pull it, terminate it, label it, and test every run before we leave.

Explore structured cabling

Security Cameras

IP camera systems for lots, docks, lobbies, and entrances. We plan coverage from your floor plan, run the cable, and set up viewing from your phone.

Explore security cameras

Access Control

Card and phone readers in place of keys. Every entry is logged, and you can turn off a lost badge in seconds instead of rekeying the building.

Explore access control

POTS Replacement

Copper lines still run a lot of elevator phones, alarm panels, gates, and fax machines. We move them to cellular devices before the line fails or the bill climbs again.

Business Phones

RingCentral, Teams, and Zoom Phone set up end to end. We port your numbers and build the call flows, so day one works.

Managed Connectivity

Fiber, broadband, SD-WAN, and cellular backup sourced for you. We deal with the carriers so your site stays online.

Alarm Systems

Commercial intrusion alarms with door contacts, motion, and glass-break sensors, tied to 24/7 central monitoring.

Commercial AV

Conference room displays, video calls, digital signage, and sound, installed so people can use them without calling IT.

How We Work in Birmingham

What you get on a Birmingham project

A fixed price, one standard, and paperwork you keep.

Scoped before we quote

We start from your plans or photos, so scope, materials, and schedule are set before work begins. A site visit happens only if they don't show enough.

Built for projects

Full installs, tenant build-outs, office moves, and multi-site rollouts.

One standard across state lines

If you also have sites in Atlanta or elsewhere in Georgia, they get the same cabling standard, the same labels, and the same paperwork as Birmingham, with one point of contact.

Tested and documented

Every run is labeled and tested, and the as-built documents are yours to keep. Your IT team, or the next contractor, can find any cable without guessing.

Where We Work

Birmingham building types we quote

Birmingham's commercial work is spread out. Office towers and banks sit downtown, the UAB medical district fills much of Southside, office parks line Highway 280, and distribution space runs along I-20/59 toward Bessemer. Each one needs a different plan, so we scope every job for the building it is.

Downtown and Southside

Banking and professional offices, and clinics near UAB

Lakeview

Restaurants, retail, and converted commercial space

Highway 280 corridor

Suburban office parks, medical offices, and retail

Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook

Medical and dental practices, offices, and storefronts

Bessemer and the I-20/59 belt

Distribution, warehouse, and light industrial

Property managers

Multi-tenant office and retail buildings across the metro, out to Trussville

How a Project Works

Four steps, no surprises

1

Send plans or photos

Floor plans, drawings, or phone photos of the ceilings, the wiring room, and the doors. Tell us what you are trying to fix.

2

Written quote

You get a written scope and a fixed price. If the plans or photos leave questions, we set up a site visit before we price it.

3

Planned install

The crew arrives with the materials and a schedule built around your hours. The site is left clean at the end of each day.

4

Test and document

We test the cabling, check that every system works, and hand you the documents. Every site in a rollout gets the same package.

Permits and Inspections Around Birmingham

Which office reviews your job depends on the address, not the mailing city. Inside Birmingham city limits, permits go through the City of Birmingham Department of Planning, Engineering and Permits, which routes plans to planning, building, and fire department reviewers. In unincorporated Jefferson County, the Jefferson County Development Services Department issues permits, and low-voltage work such as telephone, fire and security, and cable systems still needs its own separate permit.

Hoover, Homewood, and the other suburbs are separate cities. Hoover and Homewood, for example, run their own permit and inspection offices. Inside Birmingham, fire department plans examiners review the plans too, so access control on exit doors and anything tied to a fire alarm has to meet the fire code.

We confirm which office has your address before we quote, and the permit time goes into the schedule we give you.

Birmingham Low-Voltage FAQ

Questions Birmingham businesses ask us

Do you work in Birmingham?+

Yes. We install low-voltage systems for Birmingham businesses, and we are licensed in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Send the address with floor plans or phone photos and you get a written, fixed-bid quote. We set up a site visit only if the plans or photos don't show enough.

Do you need to visit before you can quote?+

Usually not. Floor plans, drawings, or phone photos of the ceilings, the wiring room, and the doors are often enough for a written quote. If they don't show us enough, we'll set up a site visit.

Which permit office covers my building?+

It depends on the address. Inside Birmingham city limits, it is the City of Birmingham Department of Planning, Engineering and Permits. Unincorporated Jefferson County goes through the Jefferson County Development Services Department. Suburbs such as Hoover and Homewood run their own permit offices. We confirm the right office before we quote.

Do you work in Hoover, Vestavia Hills, and the rest of the metro?+

Yes. We take projects across the Birmingham metro, including Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Trussville, and Bessemer. Send the address and we will confirm scope and scheduling.

We have sites in Atlanta and Birmingham. Can one contractor handle both?+

Yes, and that is where we fit best. We use the same cabling standard, labels, and documentation at every site, with one point of contact for both cities.

Can you replace the copper phone lines in our building?+

Yes. If copper lines still run elevator phones, alarm panels, gate entry, or fax, our POTS replacement service moves them to cellular devices. We start with your phone bill to find every line and what it feeds.
