Explore POTS replacementThe reasons clients stay
We have been doing low-voltage work in Metro Atlanta since 2022. It comes down to a few simple things.
One contractor, one standard
The same crew lead, the same labeling scheme, and the same documentation at every site. For a company with locations across Decatur and the metro, that consistency is the difference between a network you can manage and one you cannot.
We document everything
Every cable run is labeled and every termination is tested, and the as-built documentation is yours to keep. When something needs attention two years from now, your IT team can find the run instead of guessing.
We respect occupied space
Most of our Decatur jobs happen in buildings full of working people. We schedule around your operation, protect finishes, and clean up at the end of every day.
We give straight answers
If a cheaper approach is going to cause problems down the road, we tell you before you spend the money, not after. We would rather lose a job than put our name on work we know will not hold up.
The buildings we wire in Decatur
Decatur is mostly older bones. The downtown square is a walkable historic district around the old DeKalb County courthouse, full of small professional offices, restaurants, and retail in buildings that predate anything resembling a structured cabling standard. It is also the county seat, so the courthouse and county offices sit right there. Push out toward the Clifton and North Decatur corridor and you are into Emory, the CDC, and Emory Decatur Hospital, all institutional and medical stock. Around the square and the MARTA station, newer mixed-use is filling in. We work across the whole range.
Single and multi-tenant office buildings
Storefronts, centers, and mixed-use space
Practices, clinics, and specialty offices
Light-industrial and flex-space buildings
Multi-tenant portfolios under one manager
Campuses, churches, and community facilities
Retrofitting structured cabling into Decatur’s older buildings
Most of downtown Decatur was built long before anyone ran a data cable, and it shows the minute you get above the ceiling. Plaster walls, tight ceiling space, no clean conduit, and risers that were never meant to carry a modern cable count. Retrofitting a historic building means finding real pathways where none were designed, and doing it without tearing up a space that usually has a restaurant or a shop open on the ground floor below you.
Out on the Clifton and North Decatur corridor, the professional and medical practices near Emory want what every clinic wants: cabling that is clean, labeled, and reliable. The newer mixed-use near the square and the MARTA station is easier construction, but it still has to tie back into the same old block. We take on the old buildings and the new ones the same way, as one contractor accountable for the physical layer, so you are not stuck coordinating three trades who each blame the other.

Questions Decatur businesses ask us
Does Justin Hall Consulting serve Decatur?+
Yes. Decatur is part of our core Metro Atlanta service area. As a state-licensed contractor we work throughout Georgia, and we are also licensed in Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
Do you handle multi-location businesses?+
Yes. Multi-site work is one of our core strengths. We install the same cabling standard, labeling scheme, and documentation at every location, with one point of contact for the whole portfolio.
Can you install cabling in an occupied office building?+
Yes. Most of our Decatur projects happen in buildings full of working people. We schedule around your hours where needed, protect finishes, and clean up daily.
Is Justin Hall Consulting licensed and insured?+
Yes. We hold a state low-voltage license and carry full insurance. Our license covers work throughout Georgia, and we are also licensed in Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
My building still has copper phone lines. Should I replace them?+
If those lines support elevator phones, gate intercoms, or alarm panels, replacing them is usually worth it. Carriers are retiring copper, and the lines that remain cost far more than they used to. Our POTS replacement service uses dual-pathway devices that keep working even if one network path fails.
How do I get started?+
Request a free site audit. We will visit your building, assess what you have, and give you a written scope and a real price. There is no cost and no obligation for the audit.

Low-Voltage Work in Decatur's Commercial Core
Decatur's commercial fabric is a mix of the DeKalb County seat's government and medical facilities, the dense small-office buildings along Church Street and Clairemont Avenue, and the newer mixed-use developments that have gone up around the Decatur MARTA station over the past decade. That mix means two very different sets of project conditions. The older buildings, many dating to the 1940s through 1970s, have brick-and-mortar walls, concrete floors, and no accessible ceiling plenum, which requires a raceway or surface-mount approach to new cabling runs. The newer mixed-use buildings have standard drop ceilings and structured wiring rooms but often lack a complete as-built drawing package, so we walk the building before quoting.
Permitting in the City of Decatur runs through the Community Development Department. DeKalb County handles permits for properties outside the city limits but within the Decatur postal area. Low-voltage work that touches fire-alarm circuits requires coordination with DeKalb County Fire and Rescue, which serves Decatur under a mutual-aid agreement with the Decatur Fire Department. We verify AHJ jurisdiction on every project before pulling permits to avoid a rework after rough-in.
Decatur projects benefit from our proximity: our crew can mobilize to Decatur from Atlanta in under 20 minutes. We have completed camera system installations at medical office buildings near the Emory Decatur Hospital campus, Cat6 upgrades at law firms in the Courthouse Square area, and access-control retrofits at multi-tenant office buildings on Commerce Drive. A recent project involved replacing a legacy POTS-fed alarm line at a retail building on West Ponce de Leon with a dual-path cellular-plus-Ethernet device, eliminating a $240-per-month copper line cost immediately.
If your Decatur building still has Category 3 voice cabling in every run or copper alarm lines that cost more than they should, a free site audit is the fastest way to get a real number on what a fix would cost.
