POTS Replacement in Mount Pleasant's Growing Commercial Market
Mount Pleasant has been the fastest-growing commercial market in the greater Charleston metro for the better part of two decades. The US-17 corridor from the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge north through the Town of Mount Pleasant, including the Coleman Boulevard area, the Mathis Ferry Road corridor, and the Long Point Road commercial zone, contains the bulk of Mount Pleasant's office, medical, and retail building stock. The requirement for continuous supervised communication between a fire panel and a licensed central monitoring station does not have a grace period once the copper circuit is retired. Buildings that receive a copper-retirement notice need a replacement plan before the circuit goes dark, not after.
The 1990s and 2000s construction along the US-17 corridor is generally well-suited for IP-based replacement communicators. These buildings have structured cabling runs to the fire panel location and often have Ethernet available in the elevator machine room, which makes a dual-path IP-plus-cellular device straightforward to install.
